OUR BLUE GROUP – BABIES TO TODDLERS

The Blue Group (Gruppe Blau) was one of the first two groups we opened on 31 March 2008. In this group of babies and toddlers, the Blue Group looks after eight children aged between 3 months and about 2.5 years old.

Brightly lit play areas are connected by a large sliding door, where children have enough room to experiment with free play or with other children.

When it comes to furnishing, we attach great importance in supporting development of children’s independence. Instead of Tripp-Trapp high chairs, which always require an adult’s assistance, we offer kids tables and chairs where they can sit independently and pursue a desired task.

The front playroom is dedicated to the topic of “social-cultural references”. In other words, it has a wide range of materials such as role plays, theatre, make-up, dressing, family, professions and much more. This room is available to all of the 4-baby/toddler groups in the Kita twice a day for about an hour.

The rear playroom is more focused on the needs of younger babies. It serves as a comforting retreat area – a nest in which the children feel comfortable and at the same time gain exciting experiences. This consists of the extra-low changing table, to which the children can climb themselves for nappy change, depending on their development, in order to actively participate in hygiene care. There is always room in the corner for a short rest or book reading.

The highlight of the room is the climbing equipment, where you can feel, hear, smell, crawl and experience first climbing practices. Older children of the group also enjoy the built-in slide.

The third room of the Blue Group is the napping/resting room, where children can sleep at any time when they are tired. If no child sleeps, the room can also be used as a game room thanks to a flexible furnishing concept.
